7/15/2017 Update: Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Similator has announced a new release date of Wednesday, July 19th. Be there, or be square! For some background, read below.
The release of the hotly anticipated game Dream Daddy: The Dad Dating Simulator, has been postponed. The game was scheduled for release July 13th, but as the day wore on, it became clear that the game wasn’t going to drop. One of the game’s developers, Vernon Shaw, released a statement late Thursday night to explain why:
Hey Everyone, Vernon here.
Today was supposed to be the release day of Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator. We had been working under crunch conditions for the past three weeks, and going into today we all felt confident that we could release a game to you.
As it went later into the day, it became more apparent with more late-game bug discoveries that this wasn’t yet the version of the game we wanted to release. I checked in with all of the developers on the project with us, and while they were working as hard as they could, it was obvious that the last three weeks of sleep deprivation were taking their toll.
We all sat down and talked to talk it through, ultimately deciding that we can’t release the game tonight. We want to put out the good game that you all deserve, but to do that it’s going to take a little more time. The plan right now is that we’re all gonna go home, get 12 hours of much-needed sleep, and then come back to you tomorrow with a new release date.
I want to personally apologize to all of you who’ve been waiting patiently for this game. I’m sorry for being silent while we were trying to figure out what to do. This wasn’t an easy decision to make, but in the end I think it will mean that you’ll receive a game that you’ll love as much as we do.
Please feel free to reach out to me personally on Twitter (@VernonShaw) if you have any questions.
There have been a few people lucky enough to play, and stream, Dream Daddy, and from what this writer has seen, the game looks fantastic. Both Geek and Sundry and Game Grumps shared fairly extensive play-throughs of the first chapter on their respective Twitch channels. If those little doses were any indication, gamers can look forward to an incredibly well written game with engaging and funny dialogue, genuine relationships, and dad jokes as far as the eye can see! The artwork and character design appear to be beautifully executed and the story is a sweet, simple tale of family and love.
As of the writing of this article, a new release date has yet to be announced. But as disappointing as the news may be, we’ve all played games before that probably shouldn’t have been rushed to release, so full of bugs that it makes the game-play experience a lot less fun than we anticipated. We’ll be sure to update you as soon as a new date is announced!
Note: We had planned to stream Dream Daddy on our Twitch channel tonight at 7PM EST, but due to the delay, we will be streaming a different game.
