The latest expansion of World of Warcraft, the fel-friendly Legion, has been one of the more highly acclaimed expansions as of late for Blizzard. Add their latest and greatest game Overwatch to the mix, and it’s easy to see that the colossal gaming company not only looks, but feels like they are on top of the world, and their game.
Spotted earlier today on their careers website, two new job listings have popped up that hint there may be another first-person game in the works. The positions in question are for lead software engineers, asking for experience working on first-person games specifically. This seems a bit out of place, as until recently Blizzard hasn’t been one to venture in the first-person genre, with Overwatch being their only game within that realm. However, Overwatch has taken off like a bat out of hell with critics and fans alike (because it. is. awesome.), so maybe they want to strike while the iron is hot.
It is also possible however that behind the scenes they may be looking to just simply expand on the Overwatch universe, rather than start a whole new first-person experience. Only time will really tell what these positions mean for the company, and for gamers everywhere. Until then, we shall keep an eye on what they’re up to, and maybe Soon™ they’ll announce something official.
